Last night I was playing Nertz at Roxie's brother's house. His family is hilarious. So nertz is very similar to dutch blitz, I know I've played it in Canada but it was definitely called something else. Well for real, last night was like the typical I couldn't multi-task so I was sucking experience during the game, then they turned on the Christian radio stationed and I told them they were all screwed, and it was awesome how I started to dominate. The Roxie's niece is 17, and she was SO PISSED at how well I was doing. You know I was loving it. Then I had like two bad hands in a row and got all animated and loud and they were making fun of me so I said, "screw this I'm gonna take my ball and go home", in the best 7-year-old whiny voice I could. To which the sister-in-law replied, "Um, why don't you take both of 'em". It was so much fun, 4 hours of that card game after dinner last night!:)

Life is pretty sweet right now. Roxie moved up to the cool part of Seattle in this awesome house with 5 other girls. It's like the part of the city where people who went to the University graduated and then moved across the highway, so it's yuppie central. I love it there! I had my friend John help me move her in, and we had already warned him that the other girls in the house were not hideous by a long shot :) So as we're getting ready to leave I was like, "are you ready dude?" And he says, "Hold on I got my shirt in the dryer getting the wrinkles out". And I died inside, he totally got dressed up to go move furniture.

Our church life is sweet too. The Mars Hill campus we're attending is about a half hour drive for each of us, so a perfect meet in the middle spot. And the campus pastors last name is Choi, so I love calling him Choi Sauce. We are just so fortunate to have Driscoll's preaching every week, that guy is really something.

You ever watch these shows about Hoarders? Holy smokes, it so entertaining! And I'm only throwing it out there because it seems to have come up in my conversations lately. Like someone will say, "Geez, well at least they're not a Hoarder". Then I get all excited because I feel like one of the cool kids who knows what's happening on the TV these days.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've been on the xanga. I don't like that. There used to be so much traffic, now I logged in and EB and Sean are the only two with any news. Sorry about that, not cool.

So here's what's happening. My girlfriend lives here, HOLLA! For the first time ever we're dating AND locals. I wish you all were here right now and I could tell you about all the ways the Lord's been working. She came out here after she got a job nannying. Just yesterday she lost that job. Oh no, right? But really, we're screaming PTL! She got a new job this week, which was supposed to be her second job, but it's gonna be the shiz now. So she's working up in Seattle with The City. Are you familiar? If you're one of our Mark Driscol loving friends you probably are, it's the new Christian version of Facebook. Holla! We're just so thrilled that the Lord has brought her out here and has already twice provided jobs that sustain her, totally giving the daily bread.

So two days ago I had a wisdom tooth pulled, and I'm currently high on percoset. Not too shabby.

Yesterday was awesome. So we have another 4-day weekend going right now, so I decided to make another long fishing day. Went down to a river south, about 30 miles north of Portland. The fish were everywhere. But from what I understand, these fish are all pretty much done. Talk about UGLY! They look like they've been smashing their heads into rocks for a week, which is probably pretty accurate. And they were all in like 8 inches of water, so it was like a total turkey shoot. I caught two, neither were legal for me cuz I couldn't get the hooks in their mouths, but it was sure awesome to finally hold a 30 pound salmon!
Then I had a great idea, and called up big sexy. We met for dinner last night in Portland. He's pretty much the same, rocking some new cool glasses and rolling in a caddy. Yep, Jon's got a Cadillac. When he got out I was like, "you left your lights on". He's like, "they'll go off, it's high-tech, it's a 90!". Pretty funny.

My girl has a job interview this week in Washington. Please pray that the Lord will open the door for a good job that allows her to move out here:) It's pretty exciting.

So last week was my first time back to church here. Well, my campus anyway, the Olympia campus at Mars Hill. I'll tell you folks, it was such a blessing. There was a Chaplain in Iraq who was by far my favorite preacher over there and his family attends this church, so it was so awesome to walk in last week and see him and meet his fam. Wanna hear crazy? So him and his wife adopted two kids who at the time were like 8 and 10 or something, then got pregnant 2 months later, then had another baby shortly after that. Basically they had like 4 kids in a year and a half. So you know I love the guy. Well he ran the evening service in Iraq that I attended, and he led all the singing. He totally rocked the Mars Hill Seattle emo feeling all year long. So when two women were the singers leading music last week, oh that took so off guard. I LOVED it !!! After the service I promptly walked up to him and told him those two ladies were so much better than him, and he loved that. Last week was also the first week that the Olympia campus was at a new location, so what do you think that meant? Any guesses? Yep, you got it, POTLUCK! Life ruled. I met a bunch of people involved in the Military ministry I've never met before, and quite a few other people. So it was weird, I was meeting all these people and two of the conversations, within the first 3 minutes, I was asked whether I was a Calvinist or Armenian. Now I don't know if you know this about me or not, but I am so over that conversation. Like I hate it, and it totally brings me back to being a foolish prideful Bible college freshman. But that's fine. One of these two conversations ended awesome, just as the pastor was getting up to address the congregation and told the guy he sounded like a typical 12-point Calvinist, he laughed, and we didn't speak any more words between us.
Yesterday I hooked into my first salmon! I was down on a river near Portland, still on the WA side. It was so absolutely beautiful, I'm just amazed at how awesome this area is. I went for a little joy ride down the road along this river and I felt like I was back in the part of the forest that Rambo had to escape into in the first Rambo movie. One house was built across the river from the road, and their driveway for a wooden bridge. I'm not going back down there today, but I think I might camp there next weekend. The fish were everywhere, I just couldn't land one. The one I hooked into, well I snagged him and the hook was in his belly, so I couldn't keep it:( But my day is coming friends, don't doubt! I was so tired after yesterday that when I woke up this morning, I was still wearing my jeans and sweatshirt, had all the lights on in my room, and had my phone next to my head because talking to her was the last event of my evening and I'm pretty sure that's the closest I've come to falling asleep on the phone. And with that, this:
My girlfriend is amazing.

Hey friends,

Got a little hate my way on the fb, that's cool I guess. Sorry to keep people in suspense. So, what do you wanna know about? Well being back in America rules. I drive my truck down to the river, and listen to the radio in English. Last night a guy caught a 25 lb king salmon next to me, so I really got the itch now. Will probably be doing that for the next fews months.

So wanna know about the girlfriend? I have a beautiful one. Her name is Roxie Cardinal, she's also my ex-girlfriend, but I think the newer title of current girlfriend is better suited. She came out last weekend for Labor day and we were able to spend 4 days together. It was terrific. We camped on the eastern side of the mountains and had a really good time.
Why are we back together you may ask yourself? Cuz apparently women feel guilty not accepting a deployed soldier's advances when they're talking over the internet from Iraq:) No, cuz we're best friends. We always were, had a terrible rough patch, but the Lord has opened some amazing opportunities up for us to be together again. It's just amazing how much His hand has always been in our relationship, and we have another long list of exciting things he's done in the past 4 months or so. We're feeling pretty darn good about it.

This weekend we actually quit camping a day early and made it to Mars Hill in Seattle for one of their evening services. Talk about a baby factory. Seriously, so many kids in that congregation. This one little 2-year-old was sitting behind us, she farted LOUD then proceeded to laugh so cutely at herself. Roxie thought it was hilarious; another sign that she's the girl for me:)
